Our main focus is education and outreach. The Refuge contains 118.000 acres of semi-desert grasslands in the Altar Valley, a protected sky island mountain ecosystem and an important wetland at Arivaca. The Refuge protects several endangered species including the masked bobwhite quail. There is also a significant herd of pronghorn antelope. The Friends offer a series of walks and workshops in Brown Canyon in the Baboquivari Mts. We also works with schools and organizations to offer walks and field trips at the Arivaca Cienega. The Refuge, with its wildlife diversity is a great destination. Pronghorn Photos by Mary Scott Rolling Coyote Photos by Mary Scott Brown Canyon Enviromental Center |
